The Father Duenas Friars class of 2025 continues to produce student-athletes going to the U.S. mainland to play sports.
Beau Perez and Donovan Moss signed their commitment letters to attend Linfield University to play soccer for the Wildcats program. Linfield University is in Oregon and plays in the NCAA Division III Northwest Conference.
Both Perez and Moss were selected to the Interscholastic All-Island Football first team this season. Perez earned a first team selection as a midfielder, and Moss was also a top selection on defense.
“I just want to thank my family and coaches for all their support,” said Perez at the press conference held at the FD Phoenix Center. The two elite athletes were surrounded by family, friends, and a team of coaches from FD, the Guam Football Association (GFA), and their respective soccer clubs.
“This is a special moment for me and the boys,” said Moss. “FD is such a great school that helped prepare both of us for this moment. It is such a great school, not only for sports, but academics,” said Moss.
“It’s been a long journey for me. Since I was a little kid, I never could have dreamed of getting the opportunity to play at a collegiate level,” said Perez. “I’m thankful to all my family and my coaches for helping me believe in myself. You guys have played a big role in my life and this journey.”
“I wanted to also thank God. Without him, none of this would be possible,” said Moss.
Moss said he would be studying exercise science while attending Linfield. Perez will be studying Computer Science. “A key deciding factor for me to attend Linfield was they offer my major,” said Perez.
“Me and Donnie have been best friends since elementary school. We’ve grown up together, and we’ve pushed each other as kids,” said Perez. “It’s a blessing to go to a great school and do what we love together.”
“It’s also special because I won’t be alone. I’m going to a place with my best friend so I won’t have to restart and find new friends,” said Perez.
“It definitely special to attend school with Beau. We’ve known each other since we were really young, so to go on this journey together with him is special,” said Moss.
