In the much-anticipated matchup of the top two teams in the 2024 ISA Softball League, the action didn’t disappoint.
Brinnlyn Hardt was tested by the Sanchez Sharks on Saturday, falling behind 5-0, but somehow led the Panthers to victory.
The two-time defending champion Guam High Panthers and Sanchez Sharks both came into Saturday morning’s battle at 4-0.
The Sharks did something not many teams have been able to do – get to Guam High star pitcher Brinnlyn Hardt, who still was able to whiff 15 Sanchez batters.
Sanchez scored a run in the 4th inning and another four runs in the 6th inning for what seemed to be insurmountable.
But the Panthers managed to score five runs in the bottom of the 7th off Sanchez pitcher Gabby Lujan to tie things up.
The game went into extra innings with Guam High scoring what was thought to be the winning run, but hours later, league officials stated that regular season games do not go into extra innings. Therefore, it is a tie.
Guam High, however, holds the first tiebreaker advantage with less runs allowed in the season.
