The newly-formed DPR Liberation Village Baseball Tournament tossed its first pitch Saturday afternoon at the Paseo Stadium with the Agana Heights Cougars taking down Hagat 1 7-2.

Starter Shane McDonald tossed five scoreless innings while Aaron Jamanila and Nolan Cruz both went 2-for-2.

Franklin Ninete, Jr. came in for the save.

“It’s nice to have this type of baseball competition between the villages,” Cougars manager Gene McDonald said. “The Cougars have been a staple of the Agana Hts. village for generations. It’s important to keep this tradition alive with our next generation.”

In the second game, the Tamuning Islanders edged Piti 7-5.

The tournament plays every weekend through August.
