Guam couldn’t hang around China for too long in Thursday night’s FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers at the Hefei Sports Center in China, losing 101-53.
Guam did well in the opening quarter, as we actually took a 10-9 lead on a Joe Blas layup midway through. It was 16-15 before the Chinese sprinted off with the game, shooting almost 52% from the field.
Takumi Simon led Guam with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Jericho Cruz added 12 points as the pair were the only one scoring in double digits.
SUNDAY GAME
Guam will quickly return home after this tough loss to get ready for a home game against Japan Sunday afternoon at 3 pm at the UOG Calvo Field House. It is the biggest international game Guam has ever hosted.
