BASEBALL MVP TO PLAY COLLEGIATE BALL
Leon Guerrero to take his skills to Washington state

Two-time high school baseball MVP Ricardo Leon Guerrero II is taking his skills to the college level.
Leon Guerrero signed a letter of intent to play for the Big Ben Community College Vikings in Washington after graduating from Notre Dame High School on May 11.
The stud pitcher took MVP honors in 2022 and 2023.
Leon Guerrero finished his stellar high school career with a heroic championship game on December 30, 2023 in which he tossed a complete game with 11 strikeouts and scored the winning run against the FD Friars, delivering the first ever baseball title to the Talofofo Catholic school.
GSPN got with the Guam Junior National team player on his thoughts of taking his game to the next level.
GSPN: When did you know you wanted to pursue collegiate baseball?
RLGII: For as long as I can remember, baseball has been the sport I have wished to pursue. As I have attended multiple tournaments from U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and Asia I have met so many people who share the love for the sport. It has allowed me to find more appreciation for the game and wish to play it at a higher level.
GSPN: Why did you choose Big Bend?
RLGII: The choice of Big Bend Community College and the consideration of junior college, I believe to be the best route for me. This will allow me to improve my craft and skills in baseball. Junior college will prepare and strengthen my abilities academically and professionally for my future aspirations in a four-year university. I have come to learn about how Big Bend’s values align well with my own.
GSPN: Take us through the process of selecting BBCC.
RLGII: In the process of selecting Big Bend, it was a long process of sending up to 300 emails to many colleges and coaches around the United States. Coach Reign of BBCC was one of the few who saw my potential and versatility for baseball. From there, we kept in touch, and had many long conversations about selection and a spot on their baseball team.
GSPN: What are your athletic goals for the next 4-5 years?
RLGII: In the next 4 to 5 years, I plan to continue focusing on my academics and sports. I will continue becoming stronger, mentally and physically as I work towards acceptance into a competitive four-year university in hopes of preparing for the MLB draft or future career.
