WARRIORS BLOW PAST EAGLES IN IIAAG HOOPS
St. Paul powerhouse steamrolls Harvest

Harvest Christian Academy’s varsity basketball team took on St. Paul on the Warriors’ home court for the second game of the 2023 IIAAG Girls Basketball League season. The Warriors blew the crowd away with a huge 73-point win over the Eagles to end the game with 94-21.
Two of the three SPCS captains, Ryanna Ngrichomlei and Sazzanei Quintanilla, carried the girls to their victory as both scored a leading 22 points each.
Although securing the win proved easy for the St. Paul team, the game still came with some difficulties for the Warriors. The stress deriving especially from a standout player in the Eagles’ Aria Clark, who made more than seventy percent of her team’s points with a personal score of 15.
Though the Harvest team was smaller with ten girls to their opponents’ fifteen, the sweat from the tender Eagles confirmed the hard work they were putting in against the Warriors. The adamancy in the Eagles’ want for the ball was effectively displayed in the Warriors’ more consistent fouls despite having a huge lead on their competitors, seemingly targeting Harvest’s Clark at every offensive chance she had.
Still, the Warriors pushed to finish the game just short of triple-digits and players of the game, Ngrichomlei and Quintanilla are thankful for the outcome.
“[We’re] trying to get that communication down that we need,” explains sophomore co-captain Quintanilla, who knows the team has much to improve on despite their win. “The first two games have been pretty good, but we all still need work and we’re just going to keep practicing and practicing until we get there.”
“Our coaches always say that our practices have to be harder than the game. So, that way, when the games come it is easier for us to win,” shares junior co-captain, Ngrichomlei, who agrees that the journey so far has been tough, but has big plans for the future of this season. “We’re looking forward to making it to the championship game and taking the title again.”
To follow both teams to their next match-up: St. Paul will head down south to challenge Notre Dame, while Harvest will meet at St. John’s gym to face the Knights. Both games will begin at 6 pm on Tuesday, November 7th.
