SAN GIL VOTED INTO AFC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

GFA President elected as East Asian Football representative

PRESS RELEASE – Guam Football Association President Valentino San Gil was elected as East Asian Football Federation’s representative in the AFC Executive Committee during an election held at the EAFF 5th Extraordinary Congress Oct. 31 in Doha, Qatar.

“I am very honored to be selected again by EAFF to represent the region in the AFC Executive Committee,” said San Gil. “It is an important role in terms of helping shape the overall football landscape in Asia, as well as the aspirations of the continent in international football. I look forward to once again be working with the top leaders in Asian football with initiatives to essentially raise the level of the sport in Asia and all of the continent’s Member Associations.”

In the Presidential election held during the EAFF Extraordinary Congress, Kohzo Tashima was confirmed as the winner and will remain in the role through to 2026.

San Gil is one of five representatives from Asia’s five regional federations in the AFC Executive Committee. He joins 23 other AFC Executive Committee members elected during the AFC Congress in February this year, as well as two co-opted members, totaling 30 individuals, each from a different AFC Member Association. The AFC Executive Committee term is 2023-2027.

According to the AFC Web site, the AFC Executive Committee is “the executive body of the AFC. Amongst other matters, the AFC Executive Committee is responsible for ensuring that the AFC Statutes are applied and adopting the executive arrangements required for their application.”
