JONES MISSES UFC OPPORTUNITY

Unanimous decision loss to former UFC champ

Trevin Jones dropped a unanimous decision to former UFC champ Cody Garbrandt in what was an uneventful performance by Guam’s fighter.

Jones seemed hesitant to make any offensive attack, and when he did late in the match, it was too little too late.

1st Round

Jones seemed to be waiting and hesitant while absorbing about a half dozen body kicks and body punches while Garbrandt stutter stepped his way around the Octagon.

2nd Round

Perfect double leg take down by Garbrandt, but Jones got out of the ground hold. Another body takedown and almost had a guillotine submission but Jones snapped out of it. ‘No Love’ had back control for nearly the next minute.

3rd Round

Jones only had four significant strikes as of the early part of the final round.

“I think he’s a little overwhelmed by (Garbrandt’s) talent,” Joe Rogan said midway through the round.

Jones finally landed two solid shot with under two minutes to go. Jones with a takedown with under a minute left. One last solid shot by Jones from to position.

Official judges scored it 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

Jones drops to 13-10 (1 NC) in his MMA career (1-4 1 NC in the UFC).
