The St. John’s Knights girls middle school soccer team won their league championship last Friday, going undefeated for the season. The Knights defeated the Bishop Baumgartner Obispos 5-0 in the championship game to cap of a dominant season.
“It’s been a special season, after winning the boys championship in the previous quarter and winning the girls championship is also special,” said St John’s head coach PK Harmon.
The Knights scored 42 goals for the season and surrendered just six goals to the opposition in seven regular season games. In the playoffs, the Knights stepped up their defense and did not allow a single goal. The Knights defeated the Andersen Dragons 4-0 in the semifinals and won 5-0 against the Obispos in the championship.

Harmon said the girls are one of the best all-around teams he has coached for the program. Leadership starts with co-captains Saya Green (goal keeper) and Olivia Conroy (left back).
The Knights will lose some eighth graders to high school but the future is indeed bright with talented sixth and seventh graders.
Melu Harmon, a sixth grader, led the team in scoring with 12 goals. Seventh grader Leah San Agustin was the second leading scorer on the team with seven goals.
“Both boys and girls middle school championship teams are both solid. The difference is that the girls team is probably the more all-around team in regards to chemistry. And it’s the younger team. The future looks good for the coming two years and the impact it’ll have on the high school squad,” said coach PK Harmon.
Coach Harmon is also an English teacher at St. John’s, coaches both boys and girls middle and high school teams. “The goal is to lay a quality foundation for the future,” said PK Harmon.
