ANOTHER SHUTOUT AS STREAK REACHES 62
Friars yet to give up a point this season

Five interceptions and five sacks. The Father Duenas Friars defense pitched another shutout, blanking the Tiyan Titans 43-0 in the ISA Football League.
Vance Meno and Alucious Medler each had two interceptions. Caleb Murphy had the fifth interception, a 20-yard pick six score in the third quarter.
Murphy had two touchdowns in the contest, his other score was a three-yard rushing TD in the first quarter.
After having two weeks off due to the forfeit game against Guam High last week, the Friars took the field for just the third time this season. “We did not take Tiyan for granted. We pushed ourselves in practice,” said Medler.
“We have a lot more room for improvement. We know we are not the best we can be. We have the potential to be better as a defense,” added Medler.
The Titans had trouble all game to move the chains, converting two first downs in the contest.
Tiyan had more passing plays than rushing plays in the game with Chris Angoco and Zavier Camacho taking snaps. Camacho found Angoco (who lined up as a reciever) for an 11 yard gain in the third quarter that had room for more yardage, but a key tackle was made by FD’s Tomu Sawada.
The Friar maroon wall managed to garner five sacks with Colin Ada and Jovince Meno recording two each. Jovince Meno also had a safety in the first quarter. The fifth sack was shared by Chase Artero and Shiloh Muna-Brecht.
On offense, FD quarterback Alex Sojo played just one quarter and made the most of his playing time with a 22-yard touchdown to Trey Blas.
Backup freshman quarterback Kaynin McIntosh took the snaps for the rest of the game and ran in an eight yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Running back Zack Muna also ran in a touchdown, a 20-yard score in the second quarter. Muna finished with 79 yards on seven carries. Jaron Meno rushed for 30 total yards and a touchdown for the Friars.
Tiyan linebacker Jathan James had a game-high six tackles. Ryan Bruschi had four tackles and recovered a fumble for the Titans.
Tiyan is currently outside of the playoff picture with a 2-3 record. They have a showdown next week Friday against the 3-2 JFK Islanders. A road victory at JFK will put them back in the playoff hunt provided they win their season finale against the Sanchez Sharks.
The Titans roster was limited for the contest with Tiyan playing Ironman football. Despite the loss, the Titans played hard and did not surrender an offense touchdown in the second half.
The undefeated 5-0 Friars will play the Sanchez Sharks next Saturday. The winning streak is now at 62 games.
In the other game of the night, the Sanchez Sharks beat the winless Southern Dolphins 24-14.
