Setters don’t get the stats, but they are the quarterback on the court.

That was recognized this year as Notre Dame senior setter Nyarah Paet was named the 2022 IIAAG Girls Volleyball League MVP by the coaches at the All-Island Selection Meeting Tuesday night.

“She’s very committed to the game for sure,” Royals head coach Mike Rabago said about Paet. “She did everything to earn this prestigious award. She hit the gym the very next week after they lost the first time; traveled and stayed active in volleyball year round with Coach Art (Stanley). She’s a very coachable athlete and takes on any challenge. Take a look at the remaining 1st Team and 2nd Team. Obviously she spreads the ball out to all.”

Five Royals made the First Team with sophomore opposite hitter Eliana Benavente being the only non-senior on the first squad.
