Guam’s opener of the 2022 Senior League World Series didn’t go as planned, dropping a 13-3 matchup to Canada in Easley, South Carolina Saturday afternoon.
Representing the Asia-Pacific Region, Guam got off to a rough start giving up two runs in the first and nine runs in the second in the double elimination tournament.
Guam avoided a shutout with three runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a two-run hit by Vance Meno.
Ricky Leon Guerrero and Nolan Cruz had two hits each as Guam totaled seven hits while committing four errors.
They move to the loser’s bracket where they will play Monday at 7:30 pm (Tuesday 9:30 am CHamoru Standard Time) against the loser of the Carribean/Europe-Africa game.

Ashley Samaniego and the UCLA Bruins made it to the NCAA Women’s Final Four, before losing to eventual champions UConn.
The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
