DRAGONS HOLD OFF WARRIORS IN M.S. SOFTBALL TITLE GAME

Astumbo beats Inarajan in middle school softball

After a couple of rain outs this week, the Astumbo Dragons came out the champions of the Pony Middle School Girls Softball League.

The Dragons scored five runs in both the first and fourth innings to hold off the Inarajan Warriors 14-11 Sunday afternoon at the Okkodo Field.

Dragons Winning Pitcher Makayla Gilber: 1 for 3, 2 runs, 1 BB,
Dragons Short Stop Ha’ani Cabrera: 2 for 4, 1 run, 2 RBI
Dragons Catcher Scarlett Naputi: no hits, 3 runs, 1 BB, 1 RBI
Dragons First Basemen Destiny Tangadik: 2 for 3, 3 runs, , 1 BB, 2 RBI
Warriors Second Basemen Lyrah Dirige: 1 for 2, 2 runs, 1 RBI
Warriors Catcher Amanda Degracia: 2 for 2, 2 runs, 1 RBI
Warriors Right Fielder Ryley Acfalle: 1 for 3, 1 run, 1 RBI

Ashley Samaniego and the UCLA Bruins made it to the NCAA Women’s Final Four, before losing to eventual champions UConn.
The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
