Two-time defending champion Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers begin their Spring 2018 bid in the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division (W1) with a 4-1 victory over the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers in opening day action at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Sunday.

PRESS RELEASE – Two-time defending champion Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers begin their Spring 2018 bid in the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division (W1) with a 4-1 victory over the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers in opening day action at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Sunday.

Anjelica Perez, April Talledo, Katie Wendal, and Colleen Naden shared one each in the Lady Crushers’ goal haul and Hannah Cruz scored the Strykers’ lone goal.

The Lady Crushers are on a 20-match undefeated streak dating back to opening day of the Spring 2017 season after missing out on the Fall 2016 championship with a loss to the NAPA Lady Rovers, in that season’s semifinals.

The Lady Rovers also enjoyed an opening day win Sunday, shutting out Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat 4-0. Mindy Wilson and Courtney Salgado each scored twice in the win.

Last season’s runner-up Quality Distributors defeated the Islanders FC 3-1 with two goals from Franshay Shippey and one from Jalana Garcia. Thirteen-year-old Jadyn Palomares scored the lone goal for the Islanders in her women’s league debut.

In the Golden Boot race, Salgado, Shippey, and Wilson are on top with two goals each.

The women’s league continues Sunday with another triple header.

The Lady Crushers take on Heat at 3 p.m. followed by the Lady Rovers against Guam Shipyard. Quality Distributors will play against the Lady Strykers in the 7 p.m. time slot. The Islanders receive a bye in Week 2 play.
