The Raiders managed to grind out another Matua division win this Sunday against the Outlaws. The Raiders would surge behind the superhuman efforts of running back Kin John San Nicolas, who turned in three touchdowns for his team in a 18-0 win.
San Nicolas credited his team sealing the defenders for his touchdowns.
“I just looked for the openings that my blockers gave me and ran as fast and as hard as I could. I couldn’t have gotten to the end zone without my blockers.”
As the regular season draws to a close next week, the Raiders look to finish strong so they can begin to prepare for the playoffs.
“We know that all teams are gonna be good and play tough, but we’re looking forward to a possible rematch against the Angels. They were the only team we lost to, and we’re hoping to do better the next time.” commented the running back. He also added that his team will continue to work to improve leading up to the playoffs.
Game Recap
The Raiders defense started strong just as they have throughout the season. A tackle in the backfield jarred the ball loose from the Outlaw runner’s hands and allowed Laethian Gumabon to scoop up the ball, which put the Raiders in perfect scoring position.
The Raiders put the ball in the hands of their power duo of Kin John San Nicolas and Kyle Potter, who pounded the ball up to the edge of the goal line after two runs. With their backs against the wall, the Outlaws sent a well-timed blitz straight through the Raider’s offensive line to sack the quarterback and force a fumble.
The first quarter would remain scoreless until Raiders running back San Nicolas would score a touchdown off a 29 yard counter run, which caught the Outlaws defense off guard. The Raiders would the get the ball right back after the Outlaws kick returner would fail to receive the ball, which put San Nicolas in a prime spot to turn in a 35 yard touchdown off of a screen pass from Makoa Duenas.
San Nicolas would find the end zone one last time in the second quarter to complete his hat trick after fighting for a 21 yard touchdown.
The Outlaws came out in the second half determined to get on the board. Their defense would stop the Raiders from scoring a touchdown from the rest of the game, but were also unable to find the end zone except for an 80 punt return by Cisco Brown, which was called back due to a penalty.
