LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Guam’s next-best opportunity to win the 2017 Las Vegas Senior Softball/United States Senior Softball World Masters Championship got knocked out of contention Oct. 8.

Sindalu Guahan — a mixture of Guam military Reservists and National Guardsmen — went winless in the second of a three-day tournament, eventually falling 23-14 to Sudden Impact (New Mexico) to get eliminated. The loss was the third straight after Sindalu Guahan started 2-0 and got a favorable seed amongst 18 teams in the Men’s 40-plus AAA Division, one of the most competitive categories of the world tournament.

The Guam squad is one of five competing in this event.

Sindalu Guahan opened the tournament beating Vortex/Cafe Elite (Washington) 23-11, scoring 11 runs in their final at bat. They followed that with a 22-19 come-from-behind victory over the Arizona Aces. Ally Sarapio smashed a towering game-clinching home run to seal the victory.

But the following day was different. Sindalu Guahan’s offense went cold, losing its first game 21-19 to the Aces. That followed with a 29-17 drubbing to Tucson Hammer Time (Arizona). Finally, Sudden Impact eliminated them.
