PRESS RELEASE – Quality Distributors stayed perfect in the double-elimination playoffs of the LandShark Beach Soccer League, sending off the Bank of Guam Strykers 5-2 to claim the 2017 title at the Guam Football Association National Training Center beach soccer court Saturday evening.

Quality’s defense, led by two-time Golden Glove winner Brett Maluwelmeng in goal, kept the Strykers scoreless through 28 minutes, while teammates managed to amass a 4-0 lead on the other end of the court in the same timeframe.

The Strykers, however, prevented a Maluwelmeng clean sheet with strikes by Francis Chargualaf in the closing minutes of the both the second and final period, but time expired for a comeback.

Quality beach soccer recruit Kyle Legozzie finished with a hat trick and teammates James Lee and Jared Pangindian also scored.

Earlier the same evening, the Strykers avenged an earlier playoff loss to Bobcat Rovers, eliminating their opponents 8-3 for the opportunity to take on Quality in the late match. Golden Boot winner Mark Chargualaf, Takefumi Inoue, and Sho Hammond each scored twice for the Strykers and teammates Hiro Asoshina and Francis Chargualaf also scored. Brandon Auayan, Leeray Zapatos, and Rogel Estrada scored for Bobcat Rovers.

At the conclusion of the early match, the Bobcat Rovers accepted bronze medals in a short presentation ceremony.

Following the late match, another awards ceremony was held, with Quality accepting the league’s champion trophy and team members receiving gold medals. The Strykers received silver medals for their effort in the playoffs.

Individual awardees – Golden Boot winner Mark Chargualaf and Golden Glove winner Maluwelmeng – also received trophies in the awards ceremony.

Quality last won the beach soccer crown in 2013 and also featured as finalists in the 2014 and 2016 editions, both times falling to the Strykers before the 2017 win.
