The worst kept secret in high school sports for the IIAAG’s 3rd quarter was that St. Paul Warrior Jason Diaz had been voted as league MVP for boys basketball and freshman pitching sensation Abby Mravlja from the Guam High Panthers captured the softball MVP.
Both the boys basketball and girls softball seasons are officially in the books, kudos to the St. Paul Warriors and JFK Lady Islanders, but what happened to the rest of the teams and honorable mentions?
According to IIAAG President Marty Boudreau, we should be getting the list in the next few days after both teams hit a snag in the selection process, which was done in a private meeting amongst the league coaches over two weeks ago.
“There was a page number listed on the page for All-Island and you could not read some of the names. I’m waiting for that to be corrected and sent back to me so we can get that out,” said Boudreau on the basketball All-Island.
“There were three positions that had multiple people for 1st Team and that’s not allowed in our by laws, so that’s being rectified,” added Marty on the situation with softball.
GSPN will provide the official names and selections of All-Island recipients once the league officially releases them.
