3X3 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY SET FOR SATURDAY

On July 29th, Guam basketball fans will be treated to the highest level basketball tournament of the year. The Guam Basketball Confederation will crown National Champions of 3X3 in both Men & Women Divisions after a 1 day tournament at the UOG Calvo Field House.

PRESS RELEASE – Guam 3X3 Basketball National Championship Tournament This Saturday!

On July 29th, Guam basketball fans will be treated to the highest level basketball tournament of the year. The Guam Basketball Confederation will crown National Champions of 3X3 in both Men & Women Divisions after a 1 day tournament.

The Tournament will take place at the UOG Calvo Field House with games starting at 2pm, with game after game through the afternoon. The Dunk Contest will take place immediately prior to the Medal Games on the main court. Stay tuned to Guam Basketball on Facebook & Instagram for the game schedules and live score updates, presented by Miller Lite, and brought to you by DOCOMO Pacific & The Guam Visitors Bureau. Special Thanks to Auto Spot, Gatorade, The Pacific Island Club & The University of Guam.

In the Men’s Division, 6 teams have been invited to compete for the Gold Medal, including The KFC Bombers & UOG Tritons taking on 4 teams composed of Guam National players. “We’ve never had this much size and talent compete in Guam, and we are extremely excited,” according to Men’s Program Director, E.J. Calvo.

6 Teams are also expected to be competing in the Women’s Division, showcasing Guam’s rising talent pool of lady basketball players.

This tournament will be sanctioned by FIBA and earn points towards world rankings of 3X3 basketball, which is now an Olympic sport and growing worldwide.

Ashley Samaniego and the UCLA Bruins made it to the NCAA Women’s Final Four, before losing to eventual champions UConn.
The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
