The Hal’s Angels put their foot down and nearly came away with a big win over the Pepsi Warriors, but a touchdown from running back Hosea Ware gave the Warriors the edge to beat the Angels 14-9 at the Eagle’s field Saturday afternoon.
The Angels took a second half lead 9-8 after quarterback Steve “SP” Phillips connected with receiver Jared Ada from 20 yards out in the 3rd quarter. The score would not only give the Angels the lead, but also have the Warriors trailing for the first time in the second half all season long.
The Warriors offense scored in the opening quarter after quarterback Danny Manibusan hit his favourite target in Jacob Torres for a 32-yard touchdown. The Angels defense prevented the Warriors from building on their earlier 8-3 lead, which set up the strong second half outing.

With no time to spare, Warriors Hosea Ware gashed the Angels for a 15-yard game-winning touchdown run. The Warriors prevented the upstart Angels from getting into the end zone for the duration of the 4th quarter giving the Warriors a perfect (4-0) record as all the teams make their second round of facing off before the playoffs.
The Angels fall for just the second time this season (2-2), having both their losses at the hands of the Warriors. MFL action continues Sunday between the Cars Plus Rams (0-3) and the Island Eagles (1-2).
