DAY 2 OF OKTOBER SHOOTOUT BASKETBALL

The 2015 Oktoberfest Shootout Basketball League turned in another slew of games Sunday morning to afternoon with teams from the Philippines visiting. In the late game of the day, Guam’s Wild Boars defeated the visiting Philippines team in the U16 division 63-46.

Ethan Alegre led the Boars in scoring with 25 points as they led wire-to-wire. Alegre did most of his damage inside the paint, which presented eight free throw trips where Alegre converted on seven.

The League kicked off on Saturday and will wrap up on Halloween Weekend.

Ashley Samaniego and the UCLA Bruins made it to the NCAA Women’s Final Four, before losing to eventual champions UConn.
The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
