Smokin’ Wheels 2014 is set to kick off over the weekend setting way with the press conference Thursday afternoon at the Yigo Raceway Park.

Sponsors, racers, and event coordinators took the floor to introduce the weekend schedule while introducing new races in a trophy kart while bringing back the popular mud and rock climbing races.

Cars’ Plus Henry Simpson and Joey Crisostomo will be manning the endurance races hoping to bounce back from a mechanical issue that hindered them in the 2013 races. They will face a new competitor in the Triple J’s souped up “Raptor” truck, who will be handled by Jay Jones and his brother.

Smokin’ Wheels will officially kick off Friday night with a series of street night events followed by the all-day long festivities Saturday and Sunday.

Here is the lineup for what events are going to take place:

The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
