MATIENZO, MACALUSO TOP 32nd PLUMERIA 10K

Ryan Matienzo and Rhea Macaluso were the first male and female to finish the 32nd annual Plumeria 10k Saturday morning around the village of Hagatna.

The 32nd annual Plumeria 10k stormed Hagatna early Saturday morning as runners made two laps around the village to complete the course. Finishing first was Ryan Matienzo, who was neck-and-neck with Derek Mandell throughout the course of the race until the final stretch.

Matienzo and Mandell finished the first lap of the race matching each others pace until Matienzo gained separation at the end.

Matienzo finished with a 34:19:55 with Mandell finishing 34:26:10. Rhea Macaluso was the first female to finish with the unofficial time of 44:16.

The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
