The Angels continue their hot streak by beating the Eagles on Saturday as the Budweiser Football League season comes to a close.

The Angels continue their hot streak as the Budweiser Football League season comes to a close by beating the Eagles 20-6 on Saturday.

Angels’ quarterback Steve “SP” Phillips tossed two touchdowns, both in the second quarter, to give the Angels a 14-6 lead in the second half. The Angels prolonged possessions in the second half and kept the ball away from the Eagles which threw their offense off.

The Eagles were 0-4 on 4th down conversions in the second half.

With the four-minute warning looming in the fourth quarter, Phillips tossed a dart to a wide open Joel Limtiaco which brought the Angles to the one-yard line. Saftey Ryan Bigler, often used as the power back at times, punched in the game clinching touchdown to give the Angels the 20-6 lead.

Angels defender Chris Camacho grabbed two interceptions that set up both of the Angels touchdowns in the second quarter.

Eagles’ quarterback JJ McCloud tried to hit one of his slanting receivers when Camacho and Bigler cut the route off where Camacho took the ball 20 yards to the 50-yard line.

After a couple of runs by Marvin “Crowns” Manibusan, the Angels’ Phillips threw 25-yard bomb to a wide open receiver Storm Rosario to put up the games first points. An unsuccessful 2-point conversions left the Angels at 6-0, which didn’t last long.

On the ensuing kickoff, Eagles Roosevelt Badgett took the kick all the way to the house after using a juke move to free him up. Badgett had just one person to beat and turned on the jets to go untouched for the final 30 yards to tie the game 6-6.

This would be the second straight game where the Angels gave up a special teams touchdown right after scoring a touchdown of their own.

As the second quarter was about to end, McCloud attempted to go deep for Badgett, but was pick off by Camacho for the second time.

Phillips wasted no time on the Angels next possession by tossing a 45-yard touchdown to Limtiaco for the touchdown with no time left one the clock to go up 14-6.

The Angels then ate up enough clock in the second half to keep the ball away from the Eagles to capture another BFL victory. The Angels improve to 4-2 while the Eagles drop to 4-3.
