Island Stunnerz all-star running back Lorina Guerrero’s four-touchdown performance against Sindalu was nothing short of impressive but Stunnerz defensive back Jen Buyske made plays worthy of being named the player of the game.
The Stunnerz defeated Sindalu 48-24, doubling up on one of the Guam Women’s Tackle Football Leagues newest teams at the Eagle Field on Saturday.
Sindalu running back Deanna Garcia had a monstrous day as well scoring all three touchdowns for her team in dramatic fashion from 55, 70, and 39 yards out but Sindalu had trouble finding any offensive rhythm outside of Garcia.
Sindalu captured its first lead in the second quarter off a 55-yard touchdown and 2-point conversion by Garcia to go up 8-6 but Guerrero and Buyske made sure that would be the only lead Sindalu would have for the day.
Guerrero scored her first touchdown a few moments later on a 13-yard run to give the Stunnerz a 12-8 lead. Sindalu started picking up momentum getting to the 30-yard in Stunnerz territory when Buyske made two consecutive big plays to turn the game around.
Buyske sacked scrambling Sindalu quarterback Christine Rapolla for a 10-yard loss on second down followed by her second interception of the day a play later. Guerrero capitalized on the turnover scoring her second touchdown of the day a few offensive possessions later to put the Stunnerz up 20-8.

Garcia responded with her longest run of the game with a 70-yard touchdown to pull the within a single possession, 20-16. The next Stunnerz possession resulted in another touchdown for Guerrero, who scored off a 30-yard run bouncing to the outside of Sindalu’s defense to give them a 26-16 lead at halftime.
The Stunnerz built their large lead in the third quarter when quarterback LeeAnn Villagomez hit receiver Michelle Rode for a 15-yard touchdown strike to put them up 36-16. Garcia responded with one of her most exciting runs of the day from 39 yards out, escaping two Stunnerz linebackers while using her shoulders to run over a Stunnerz safety to score the touchdown to cut the lead 34-24.
It was short lived, however, after Stunnerz Christine Deleon punched in a goal line touchdown a few plays later to push the lead to 40-24. Guerrero scored her fourth touchdown late in the fourth quarter to seal the game at 48-24.
Stunnerz running back Tanya Flores suffered a neck injury late in the third quarter on a short run. Flores was carted off the field but was later seen walking back to the Stunnerz sideline with teammates proving she was okay.
