Family, friends, and Guam baseball legends and current stars of the game all gathered at the Barrigada Church to pay their final respects to Timothy “TJ” Santos Jr., a former Guam national and junior national baseball star player and U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilot.
The Barrigada parking lot and catholic church were filled with over hundreds family, friends, and fans alike. Santos passed away on August 18, 2013 from pancreatic cancer at 29 years old. Santos spent his final days in Fort Bliss, Texas.
Tim was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer March 2013 and received most of his medical treatment at Fort Bliss Medical.
Santos is married to Karina Terlaje Santos, whom he had two children with in Aria Cecile Santos and Timothy Santos III.
Santos is the older brother of Trae Santos, who was drafted in the 17th round by the San Diego Padres, and got to see one of his wishes fullfilled when Trae was drafted by a professional team.
Trae was with his brother in a hospital in Baltimore when the Padres drafted him and continues to carry out the dream of playing professional baseball that he and his brother Tim shared. Trae is back on island to attend the funeral.
