RAIDERS STILL NO. 1 IN BFL

It’s no surprise that the Raiders victory rested in the hands of their quarterback Will Williams. Williams assisted each touchdown, and ran in a long one himself in their bout against the Steelers that ended in a 44-14 win Saturday afternoon at Eagle field.

Following a safety forced by the Raiders late in the second quarter, Steelers’ Shane Concepcion lifted the moral of his team after returning a 50-yard interception into the end zone. Concepcion also ran in the extra points to put the Steelers on the scoreboard, 28-8.

To open the second half, the Raiders quickly gained back possession of the ball, allowing Williams to connect with Danny Manibusan in the end zone. Matt Javier ran wide to punch in the two-point conversion making the score 36-8.

Later in the fourth quarter, after throwing five touchdown receptions, Williams ran in a 65-yard punt return touchdown, going in untouched.

Though the Raiders dominated the entire game, the Steelers went out with a bang. With two minutes left in the game, running back Thomas Medler sprinted to the outside and ran down the sideline for a long 80-yard touchdown.

Williams and Jesse “Pumpy” Manglona started the Raiders’ offense off with a touchdown reception early in the first quarter. Rodney Binning followed with a reception of his own, making the score 12-0 in the opening minutes of the game.

In second quarter action, Williams hit Alex Azcarraga with a line drive pass in the end zone, and then handed the ball off to Binning for the extra points. Williams found Azcarraga once again deep in the corner of the end zone, to make the score 26-0 midway through the second. The Raiders’ last points in the half came from a safety, after Binning blocked a Steelers’ punt attempt.

With the BFL season coming to a close, the Raiders remain at the top of the standings, undefeated, while the Steelers are still without a win.
