PINKSTON PEAKS FOR ARNOLDS

In the world of fitness, dedication is the key to a door of opportunities. You can ask Jesse Pinkston.

Wanting to challenge herself, Pinkston entered a contest by Infinite Labs: “I Am Juggernaut.” In a span of three months, Pinkston not only had to take the Juggernaut supplements, but dieted and worked out almost every day; blogging her progression throughout the whole thing to help inspire others.

“The hardest part was dieting,” Pinkston said with a laugh. “I chose to be as strict as possible with my diet which meant excluding all those indulges like sweets, pizza and alcohol.”

It was worthwhile for Pinkston, losing five pounds and 4% of her body fat by the end of the 12-week experience. But nowhere in her mind did Pinkston think she’d be one of the five individuals to win the competition. The only winner from Guam, Pinkston says that it’s a “fitness dream come true.”

But the best part about it: the encouragement she received through the whole challenge. Not only from family and friends, Pinkston tells of the encouragement the contestants gave each other.

“It was like we weren’t competing with each other,” Pinkston said. “We would always encourage each other every step. It was more like I was competing with myself and no one else.”

With encouragement and dedication, she hopes to take herself further in her accomplishments and goals. This is just the beginning of fitness experiences to come.

To the Arnold!

What exactly is the Arnold Fitness Weekend? Not only is it an Expo featuring all kinds of fitness companies, but a sports festival with competitions such as weightlifting, dancing, table tennis, archery, skateboarding, and more. Created in 1989 by Mr. Olympia, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the festival takes place in Columbus, Ohio every year.

Being one of the five to win the contest by Infinite Labs, Pinkston gets to go to this year’s Arnold as a VIP. Not only is she going to be able to explore the Expo, but watch some of the competitions being held during the weekend of February 28 to March 3rd.

“It’s a free vacation,” says Pinkston. “I’m excited! I can’t wait to go.”

Some Advice

For Pinkston, working out was always something she’s done to keep herself healthy. And her advice: It’s not about just losing weight, it’s about losing the body fat as well.

“A lot of people say they want to lose weight, but it’s not all about your weight,” explained Pinkston. “You have to lose your body fat.”

Pinkston says that she’s not as dedicated as some people out there with very strict diets and daily routines, but that she pushes herself every day to stay healthy and fit. She respects those who really stick to their diets and workouts, inspiring her to keep going.

In Pinkston’s view, anyone could be as dedicated, but it takes time and work. It’s not easy, but it can be done. Determination could be the beginning to bring you to a whole new level.

The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
