[sixcol_five_last]

PRESS RELEASE – The Agana Heights Cougars went deep three times against the MTM Falcons to take the 9-5 win in last night’s Guam Masters Baseball League (GMBL) action at the Paseo Stadium. In the first game of a double header, in the bottom of the third, no outs, Agana Heights’ Gene McDonald crushed the first pitch from MTM starter Tom Palomo and sent it over the wall in left for the two-run home run. The next batter, Gerry Leon Guerrero, did the same and drove Palomo’s 0-1 pitch over the wall in left, just inside the foul pole for the solo homer. McDonald got his second home run in the bottom of the sixth again with no outs, sending the Rodney Villagomez 1-2 pitch over the wall in left for the two-run home run. McDonald ended up going 4-for-4, a double, two two-run home runs, four RBIs, and scored three runs. Leon Guerrero was 3-for-4, with the solo home run, an RBI, and two runs scored. MTM’s Jesse Bamba was 2-for-3, a double, and an RBI.

In the nightcap, the Maimai Marlins broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs to post the 13-5 win over the Kosrae Masters. Maimai’s Tommy Duenas was 2-for-4, an RBI, and a run scored. Richard Masnayon was 2-for-3, a triple, an RBI, and a run scored.
The GMBL continues on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Paseo Stadium with a four-game schedule starting at 1 p.m.

Ashley Samaniego and the UCLA Bruins made it to the NCAA Women’s Final Four, before losing to eventual champions UConn.
The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
