In a matchup between two undefeated teams, defending champions Team Legacy had their way with the Steel Blazers pounding them 27-0 in Guam Women’s Tackle Football League action Saturday afternoon at Eagle’s field.
Legacy relied on a full team effort to show other teams and spectators that they are the team to beat this season.
After a scoreless first quarter that saw momentum change from both teams, Legacy picked things up as QB Morgan Reyes connected with Shawnnel Castro for a 24-yard pass giving Legacy good field positioning in Blazer territory. On the ensuing play Gia Sarusal broke free for 10 yards getting the first down at the eight-yard line. Reyes would later connect with receiver Lauren Fannon on a five-yard TD pass giving Legacy the lead 6-0.
The Steel Blazers did not go away so easily though. After a nice 15-yard kick off return from Mae Ann Pajaro, it looked like the Blazers were about to score right before the end of the first half. However, the tenacious Legacy defense thought otherwise as Kineshia Flores forced a fumble out of Pajaro’s hands, leaving teammate Kimberlyn Tupaz to recover giving Legacy one last chance before half time to score.
With time winding down in the second, Sarusal who played QB for a couple of plays scrambled behind the line of scrimmage for a huge first down deep in Blazer territory. The very next play Flores – who also took a couple of snaps – connected with Castro for a 25-yard TD pass extending the lead 12-0, after the PAT by Castro Legacy would head into halftime with a comfortable lead 13-0.

The second half of the game was all Legacy. After a 28-yard kick off return from Flores, Sarusal would give the offense another big gain as she rammed her way through a couple of Blazers for the first down. She would later punch it in for a TD at the five-yard line making the score 20-0 after the PAT.
The Steel Blazers however kept fighting as the impressive tandem of Pajaro and TJ Rodrigues were able to make some big plays for the Blazers who in the third quarter found themselves deep in Legacy territory. But the defense was too much for the Blazers were unlucky whenever they entered the red-zone.
The Legacy offense however kept on rolling, as Reyes connect with Sarusal who broke free for a 58-yard TD run making it 27-0 sealing the deal for the defending champions. With the win Legacy improves to 2-0 as the Steel Blazers fall to 1-1.
In the afternoon game, Sindalu crushed the Iron Maidens 59-0.
