IT&E 63, Red Music Skippers 42
A strong IT&E squad continues their strong play in the San Miguel Basketball League with a big win over the Red Music Skippers.
Earvin Jose led all scorers with 23 points in the win as IT&E closed out both halves on big runs to get the edge over the Skippers.
Leading just 20-16, Jose splashed in a couple of three pointers that sparked an 18-4 run to close out the first half with teammate Sandy Fejeran hitting a three pointer at the buzzer to make the score 38-20.
The Skippers fought back in the second half by attacking the rim for easy baskets. A three pointer by Eugene Lopez cut the once 20-point IT&E lead to just nine points, 42-33, with less than four minutes left to play.
IT&E raised their defensive intensity by forcing turnovers and converting on fast break buckets with IT&E’s Ryan Nanguata leading the way. Nanguata hit a three pointer from the corner to get the lead back to an insurmountable margin 60-41 with less than a minute left to play.
Red Horse 80, Hoopnotics 50
Red Horse JP Cruz exploded for 46 points and teammate Jin Han cashed in a triple double with 10 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists. Red Horse continues to look like the alpha dogs of the league with another blowout win. Angelo Guevara led Hoopnotics with 23 points in the loss.
Sticky Bandits 64, Calvos Insurance 60
The Sticky Bandits were led by a strong performance from Julius Yu, who cashed in 17 points in the close win. Calvo’s was led by Francis Sunga’s 15 points. Calvo’s had a big win over IT&E in last weekends outing, but the group of FD Almuni managed to deliver a clutch performance to get the win.
BME & Sons 51 vs. Pepsi 37
Ricky Damian scored 15 points as BME & Sons held down Nate Taneda and Pepsi. BME & Sons are bouncing back from a tough loss last weekend against ACS Investors with the big win over Pepsi, who are suffering their second straight loss.
