Guahan Old School, comprised of some of the best former Guam Major League All-Stars, keep rolling along as they remain unbeaten in the Senior Winter Baseball League double-elimination playoffs.

Guahan sent the surprising Yigo Typhoons down to the loser’s bracket with a 13-3 win Thursday night at the Paseo Stadium.

Guahan came out on fire scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. With runners on second and third, Keith Hattig cranked a two RBI single to left field that drove home Pat Alvarez and Bobbie Dean. A few batters later with the bases loaded, Jose Carbales added a two RBI single of his own that sent home Hattig and third baseman Paul Untalan. To round out the inning, Charlie Carbales ran home on a field error by the Typhoons.

However, the Typhoons answered back in the top of the second inning getting on board. Joey Lupola smacked a pitch to center field that drove home Joey Quintanilla for the first run for Yigo. Then, with the bases loaded, a walk by Guahan allowed Ken Flores to reach home safely.

Team Guahan added insurance in the bottom of the second inning as lead off batter Alvarez whacked one out of the park on a solo home run.

The Typhoons will face the Giants Friday night in the loser’s bracket finals at 6:15 p.m. The Giants eliminated the Tamuning Twins in Thursday’s late game 9-5.

The winner will face Guahan Saturday night at 6:15 p.m. A Guahan win would end the season with them as champions. A loss will force a final game Sunday night.
