Four of Guam’s U18 female ballers in Alina Bonto, Gemille Ilao, Destiny Castro and Kali Benavente will be heading off to Jakarta, Indonesia for the 3×3 FIBA Tournament. Guam Basketball Confederation Secretary General and  FD Vice Principal and Athletic Director Tony Thompson will accompany the girls, who are scheduled to leave this Wednesday, September 25.

There are four pools and the tournament will be a “round-robin” style of play. The Girls are in the same pool as USA, Spain, Lithuania, China, and Puerto Rico.

3×3 Tournaments are becoming popular over the world and FIBA would like to continue its growth by hosting the big tournament. New changes in the rules present a 2-point reward for each dunk. Although, despite their undoubtable skill, none of the four girls can dunk.

The tournament will also present a three-point and free throw shooting contest for both groups. There will also be a dunk competition for the males.
