Every seven years the Far East Tournament works its way to Guam, and this is Guam’s year.
Day 2 of coverage began the single-elimination round of play as teams from Guam dominated the morning with big wins.
The Academy Cougars, behind dangerous middle blocker Erin Wong and powerful outside hitter Ladera “Hit Girl” Lin, took down Christian Academy Japan 25-13, 25-15 to advance to a rematch of the high school championship game against the Southern Dolphins.
The Dolphins survived a scare from the Okkodo Bulldogs going three sets after dropping the first one 21-25, 25-19, 15-9.
The Guam High Panthers shocked the tournament by a taking out the hard hitting ND Royals in two sets 25-23, 25-21.
The JFK Islanders remain in play by defeating the GW Geckos after in a thrilling 16-14 third set victory. The Geckos won the first set 25-19 but JFK answered back with the 25-23 second set win.
Kubasaki continued their streak by taking out the Sanchez Sharks in two sets.
