Team CTD Adahi set the Guam’s Senior Winter Baseball League record with the most runs scored in a single game after blowing out the Chalan Pago Amigos 36 – 5 Thursday evening at the Paseo Stadium.
“We were just fortunate, we got lucky,” said Adahi’s Vince Quitugua. “We enjoyed it, but we really didn’t want to do that (running up the score).”
Team Adahi now holds the record for most runs scored at the Paseo Stadium. No other team has passed the 30 point mark previously. Also, the oldest player, 62-year-old Adahi pitcher RA Myer crossed home plate for the first time this season. Myer usually has a courtesy runner after getting on base.
Adahi came out with a bang scoring a whooping 14 runs in the opening inning. Luke Tedtaotao sparked the run hitting a two RBI single that drove home lead off batter Quitigua and Frank Camacho. Tedtaotao would later reach home off a RBI to center field by Frank Cruz. Cruz and starting pitcher Herbie Hattig then ran home a few batters later off a two run-scoring single by Roland Lumunsud. On the next play, Lumunsud sprinted home off a grounded RBI single passed second base by Pat Cruz. Cruz then ran home moments later off an RBI by Quitugua. Quitugua later added his second run of the inning off another RBI by Camacho. To round out the inning, Lumunsud brought home two more runs off another two RBI double. 13 of Adahi’s 14 runs in the opening frame were due to RBIs. Adahi also had an impressive 20 at bats in the top of the first.

Adahi continued where they left off adding a plenty of insurance in the top of the third inning. A RBI single by Tedtaotao drove Camacho home. Tedtaotao would then add another run off a RBI by Frank Cruz. Cruz then ran home a few bats later off a RBI by Hattig.
Team Adahi could not miss at bat scoring six more runs in the top of the fourth inning. Substitute Bert Sablan cranked a two RBI single to center field that drove home Tony Dowless and Camacho. Sablan would later add a run of his home off a RBI by Hattig.
In there final inning at bat, Adahi added another ten runs to set the league record for most runs scored. Adahi finished with a total of 28 runs-batted-in.
“I feel they should have a rule that kills the game when it’s out of reach, just to save face,” added Quitugua.
In the losing effort, the Amigos managed to score four runs in their final chance at bat. Mike Perez hit a RBI single to left field that drove home Ben Quintanilla. He would later reach home off a RBI by Mike Quintanilla. Jerard Lujan would score the final run for the Amigos off a RBI by Ed Igisiar.
In the late game, the Air Force Reserve outlasted the Net Tours Jets 17-10.
Senior Winter Baseball action continues this weekend at the Paseo Stadium.
