PRESS RELEASE – At the end of the day it is the champions who hold their heads high knowing they worked hard for the final victory and this could be seen on Championship game day 1 at the 9th annual Thanksgiving HoopFest Tournament on December 1 at Tamuning Gym. Championship game 2 is scheduled on Saturday in the 8U, 10U, 16U and 18U competitive divisions.

“In the past nine years of running this tournament I have not seen such a high level of competition which is the result of all the basketball clubs on Guam who work hard on developing the players during their off season,” stated tournament coordinator Elsa Ulloa. Ulloa adds that having the Republic of the Philippines (RP) Growee team, Dilliman Prep from Manila and Rollers Basketball from Saipan participating tested the skill level of local club teams.

“It will be exciting for the fans to watch the upcoming 2014 IIAAG and GDOE high school and middle school boys basketball leagues with the talented athletes who performed well on the court,” said Ulloa

Ashley Samaniego and the UCLA Bruins made it to the NCAA Women’s Final Four, before losing to eventual champions UConn.
The 2007 Simon Sanchez graduate is in his first year with the Bruins women’s basketball team as the Director of Athletic Performance. This after years at California State University, Northridge in the same capacity.
Coach Ash must be bringing some goodness to the Bruins as UCLA is currently ranked #1 in the country and earned its first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
