PRESS RELEASE – Bud Light Golden Hoops Classic 2012 Fall Tournament named Team Heineken the new champions after a win against the defending champs Bank of Guam Club 71-44 in the 18 plus men’s varsity on Sunday at Tamuning Gym.

Aggressive defense by BOG’s starting five Roque Charfauros, Cory Lorenzo, Jay Casimiro, Ivan Babauta and Anthony Babauta kept Heineken from making offensive runs keeping the game close at the half 31-34.

The momentum changed in the final minutes of the second half when Heineken’s Joseph Blas and Earvin Jose found their rhythm scoring three’s giving them the lead to seal the win for the title.

Blas led all scoring with 28 points followed by Jose with 11 points and Sandy Fejeran with 10 points. Charfauros and Lorenzo scored 16 points each in the loss.

“It was a tough loss tonight and we are looking forward to coming back and competing,” stated Ivan Babauta after the game.

Blas was named MVP and awarded the division top scorer with 358 total points averaging 27.54 per game.
