It’s only two games, but the revamped Guam Eagles have come out gunning in the Budweiser Football League as they shocked the Hal’s Angels 20-6 Sunday afternoon at Eagles Field.
“That’s what happens when you don’t come to play and you’re not prepared,” Angels coach Mike Willess said. “They were the better prepared team. They executed more plays than we could.”
Playing in only their second game of the season due to scheduling conflicts, the Eagles seemed to be the more battle-tested team Sunday afternoon.
In the first quarter, the Eagles’ Phil Concepcion returned an interception into a short touchdown return deep in Angels territory for the quick score. Quarterback Joe Terlaje snuck in behind center for the two-pointer and the 8-0 lead.
Before halftime, Terlaje would find Reggie Baylor down the sidelines for a 70-yard scoring hookup to take a 14-0 lead going into intermission.
The Angels managed to cut into the lead when Joel Limtiaco was the recipient of a 25-yard scoring connection to trim the lead to 14-6.
Power house Xavier Reyes, however, would cap the scoring on the day with a 35-yard rush later in the third quarter.
The Angels fall to 2-2.
