The Southern High Dolphins put on a clinic at bat in high school baseball to blow out the JFK Islanders 20-1 Thursday afternoon on Islander turf.
The McDonald’s player of the game: Southern’s Anthony Chaco
Then Dolphins built a comfortable lead but added plenty of insurance in the fifth and final inning scoring twelve runs. Lead off batter Anthony Chaco sparked the momentum for Southern smacking a triple over center field. Next at bat, Johnny Quenga hit a triple of his own sending pinch runner Trebor Aguerro home for the RBI. Quenga then ran and touched home plate on the play off a RBI single by Corey Duenas.

After a steady string of walks by JFK, Dolphins pitched Nicolas Cruz whacked a two RBI to left field that drove Cody Terlaje and Vance Kaneshi home. Cruz later reached home on a field error by the Islanders. To round out the inning, Anthony Chaco hit a second triple over center, this time sending Donovan Santos and Mark Parks home. Chaco closed out the inning running home on a wild pitch.
Southern pitcher Nicolas Cruz finished the game with three strikeouts. In the losing effort, the Islanders managed to score in the fourth inning off a run by Jr. Lujan.
